Overlapping Windows

Overlapping windows are a common feature for interactive applications. For example, they may be pop-up windows with look-up values, or part of an MDI interface.

However, tabbed browsing has made implementation of such windows difficult. DHTML Layers can sometimes be used instead, but they have many pitfalls.
